Descripción general de algunas variables meteo-marinas de aguas superficiales adyacentes al archipiélago de Palmer, península Antártica, durante 1979-2018 con base en datos Era5

Resumen

Se presenta una descripción espacial y temporal de parámetros meteo-marinos del período 1979-2018 de la región marina circundante al archipiélago de Palmer, localizada al oeste de la península Antártica (OPA). La información utilizada fue extraída del reanálisis ERA5. La Temperatura del aire (Ta), Precipitación total (Pr) y Temperatura Superficial del Mar (TSM) mostraron un incremento general en los últimos 40 años en la región de estudio. Los mayores valores de incremento de Ta, Pr y TSM se registraron al norte del estrecho de Gerlache, seguido por el estrecho de Bismarck. Se evidenció que la Cobertura de Hielo Marino (CHM) ha disminuido en mayor parte al norte del archipiélago de Palmer. Se identificó la existencia de una diferenciación local de las condiciones meteo-marinas alrededor del archipiélago. La climatología de cinco puntos de referencia para la región mostró diferencias más visibles durante el invierno austral en
la Ta y CHM, durante el verano austral en la TSM y un comportamiento bimodal en la Pr. La tasa de cambio durante el período 1979-2018 para la Ta fue de 0,011 ºC/año, para la Pr fue de 0,008 mm/año, para la TSM fue de 0,004 ºC/año y para la CHM fue de -0,003 fracción/año.
