The presence of the Pacific chupare stingray Styracura pacifica in the Colombian Pacific is confirmed. This species together with S. schmardae in the Atlantic are the only representatives of the Potamotrygonidae family that live in marine and brackish waters. The confirmed distribution of the species was limited to the Pacific coasts of Central America, between southern Mexico and Panama; therefore, the present record extends its distribution to the Eastern Tropical Pacific by about 470 km to the south.
