The mineralisation of nitrogen and carbon was studied in Colombia on the coast of the Carribean sea. Soil samples were taken from the area of the Isla de Salamanca: 1. from the beach near the sea, 2. from a small valley behind the beach, 3. from the shore behind the valley. The highest values of chloride, nitrogen, water capacity and pH were found in the valley, followed by the shore, while lower values were noted for the beach. Soil samples of the valley contained the highest amount of bacteriasamples of the shore included the bulk of the fungi. At the same water conditions the soil activity (production of CO2 and ammonification) depended on the content of nitrogen and chloride in the soil.Downloads
