Leaf temperatures of several plant species of the xerophytic vegetation near Santa Marta (Colombia) were studied during the dry and the wet season. The leaves of species growing in a cactus thorn scrub reached very high temperatures, especially in the dry season, while leaf temperatures of plants in the area of a disappeared semi-deciduous seasonal forest were lower because of more favorable conditions of water supply and microclimate.Downloads
