Primer registro en aguas venezolanas y segundo registro para el mundo de Eptatretus ancon (Myxinidae)

Se documenta el hallazgo de un ejemplar de Eptatretus ancon, una especie de mixínido descrita originalmente para la costa caribeña de Colombia y conocida hasta ahora únicamente por su holotipo. El espécimen fue capturado en enero de 2026 al norte de Chichiriviche de la Costa, estado La Guaira, Venezuela, a una profundidad de 551 m, utilizando una nasa como
arte de pesca. Este descubrimiento constituye el segundo registro mundial de la especie y el primero para Venezuela, extendiendo su distribución conocida aproximadamente 700 km hacia el oriente, a lo largo del talud continental. Se presentan datos morfométricos y merísticos del ejemplar, los cuales son comparados con los del holotipo, confirmando su identificación.
Este registro resalta la importancia de explorar los hábitats profundos del Caribe sur y sugiere una posible distribución continua de E. ancon a lo largo del talud continental de Colombia y Venezuela.
