Abstract

A finding of M. myriaster (Milnf.-Edwards & Haime) is reported from Santa Marta Bay, Colombia. According to former reports it is essentially a deep-sea form and never has been found before by divers. The problem of the depth limitation of the coral formation in the Santa Marta area is discussed. One of the factors most responsible for this phenomenon seems to be the water turbidity in various months of the year.
