Distribución específica por microhábitat de Octolasmis hoeki (Poecilasmatidae) enMaguimithrax spinosissimus (Mithracidae) en el Caribe suroccidental colombiano

Las especies del género Octolasmis son percebes sésiles capaces de colonizar el exoesqueleto y las estructuras internas de artrópodos, incluido el cangrejo araña Maguimithrax spinosissimus, especie ecológica y socioeconómicamente importante en el Caribe colombiano. Ante el desconocimiento de su distribución en este hospedador, este estudio evaluó la abundancia y localización de O. hoeki en el exoesqueleto y cámaras branquiales de 20 ejemplares adultos en tres ecosistemas insulares de la región. La identificación morfológica se complementó con análisis taxonómicos. Usando la identidad del hospedador como factor de bloqueo, la abundancia entre microhábitats se comparó mediante la prueba de Friedman y comparaciones post hoc de Wilcoxon. O. hoeki habitó todos los microhábitats, con una abundancia significativamente mayor en las cámaras branquiales que en las superficies externas (p <
0.05). Se observaron asociaciones positivas entre la cantidad de percebes y la morfometría del cangrejo (peso y tamaño), aunque requieren cautela por el tamaño muestral. La colonización generalizada demuestra la alta capacidad de O. hoeki para ocupar al hospedador. Aunque su abundancia branquial podría tener implicaciones fisiológicas, los datos no permiten clasificar la relación como parásita o comensal. Por tanto, se trata aquí como una asociación simbiótica epibiótica cuyas consecuencias funcionales requieren mayor investigación.
