Abstract
This study presents a supplementary analysis to Valverde and Castillo's (2024) study on sea level changes in coastal systems affected by climate change, using data from the Limon tide gauge station. While their findings improve the understanding of regional sea level rise, this analysis extends the insights by integrating a more extensive dataset and advanced methodologies. Key highlights include examining different periods using simple linear regression, revealing significant variations in sea level rise rates; incorporating satellite altimetry data for a more accurate estimation of absolute sea levels, considering subsidence effects; and conducting comparative analyses with other regions, such as the Pacific coast of Costa Rica and sites in Panama, to contextualize the findings. This manuscript aims to deepen understanding of sea level trends and their implications for coastal management and policymaking in Costa Rica and similar regions.
